Job Title: MySQL Database Specialist

Department: IT

Reports to: Director of IT

Manager of: None

Job Summary: The Database Specialist is responsible for the design and deployment of MySQL database information architecture to support next generation solutions for evolving business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work with a cross-functional team to design and maintain logical and physical data models and data structures associated with MySQL databases.

* Design, develop and maintain optimized data access solutions.

* Develop and maintain appropriate systems optimization, archiving and recovery strategy.

* Write and maintain database related documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary.

* Assist with the creation and maintenance of data content acquisition standards and practices.

* Contribute to the design and development of supporting applications (API, Web Services, etc) to provide data integration across multiple systems and users.

Skills/Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other directly related field

* Hands on data architecture and design experience in a MySQL environment

* Demonstrable knowledge of MySQL architecture and database design concepts, including logical data modeling and schema design

* Previous database design experience for high availability, mission critical applications

* PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, and CSS development experience a plus

* Superior analytical skills

* Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
